Debating: Preparing for the summative speaking exam

As a summative assessment, you will be conducting a debate based on whether more permanent homeless shelters should be built in Seville.

You will be assessed on how well you put your views across, as well as the quality of your English.

Designing a Computer Game

In groups of 2-4, you are going to design your own computer game. You will then be presenting your game to the rest of the class. You must decide on answers to the following questions:

As a group, you should also produce a 200-word description of your game.

Summative Assessment: 6.10.16


Your first summative assessment of the year will be next Thursday (6th October).
You will recieve a mark for category C (33%) and category D (33%)
You will be marked on your use of the following:

–Adjectives and adverbs used to express emotions (from the Student Book)
–Crime and gang vocabulary from On the Sidewalk Bleeding
–Conditionals (all four! We’ll be revising these today)
–A variety of past tenses (past simple, past continuous, past perfect) *We’ll be looking at these more closely over the next week
–Phrasal verbs (from a Quizlet list that we’ll be looking at soon)

–Persuasive language devices (we’ll spend a short time revising these also)
